DO

  • Invest in a salon grade MOISTURE shampoo and conditioner. If you have thick/course hair you will need something heavier usually labeled as smoothing something like this. And if you have finer hair prone to getting oily you will still need moisture with a lightweight finish like this.(Your stylist should have something similar) And if you been using the same stuff for ages switch it up with a new brand.
  • Finish off your shower with some cooler water to close your hair cuticle and give extra shine- It really works!
  • Invest in heat tools that have temperature gages.
  • Use a heat protector before blowdrying and styling. If you air dry only get yourself a good detangling spray that has heat protection as well.
  • Treat your hair regularly. Once a fortnight is recommended for normal hair but weekly for Dry hair until you’ve had improvement. Make sure you have the right kind of treatment so in this case you want moisture. If you have snapping ends from over processed hair you would want repair- totally different ballgame.

Dont

  • Use really hot water on your hair. This will keep your hair cuticle more in tact and a smooth cuticle is smooth hair!
  • Use the hottest temp on your hair tools. Your styles will last longer and set just as well with a lower heat setting of about 150.
  • Iron or curl your hair that is even slightly damp. Your hair needs to be dry as a bone before using heat tools.
  • Do weird shit with coconut oil and household items unless you are prepared to have worse hair in the long run. It leaves a film on your hair making it near impossible to get out or feel clean again and even worse to style. We can smell this hair from a mile away and it almost always smokes when styled with heat tools. Basically frying your hair in food product, its gross-don’t do it.
